Hello First Grade Families,
Thanks to all of you who helped chaperone our zoo field trip. The children had a wonderful time learning about animal adaptations with you!
Please save the following items for our upcoming engineering unit which will start in the middle of May: empty cereal & cracker boxes, empty yogurt and pudding cups, toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, and empty 7.5 oz size soda cans. Thanks for your help saving these items for us. We will need them sent into school on May 15.
Please encourage your children to practice reading their assigned Rumpus in the Rainforest play speaking lines and words to song(s) at home each day as homework.
We will need parents to volunteer to help make costume hats and set up/clean up for the play. If you would like to help with the play please click here to get more details and sign up...click here for headpiece ideas if volunteering to make hats.
Our musical play will be on May 30 (Thurs.) at 5:00 p.m. in the WCS gym. Students will need to arrive in their classrooms at 4:30 p.m. dressed in their assigned costumes which we ask each family to put together for their child, (please look for a bright green paper attached to your child's lines/songs for costume requirements). Volunteers will make the hats for your children to wear in the play. You can find fairy wings for butterflies, grass skirts and flower/vine necklaces for shamans, feathers to glue onto toucan's shirts, etc at a local dollar or 99 cent store.
Look what we are learning in first grade!
